Saint Veronica’s parish in Howell, New Jersey is seeking a part-time Custodian to work up to 25 hours per week. This is a flexible position with daytime and evening hours preferred. Occasional weekends needed for events and programs.
The hourly rate for this position is between $19 - $22 per hour and is based on experience. As a part-time employee you will be offered paid time off according to the parish time-off policy.
As part of the facilities team, the Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment throughout the facility. This position performs routine cleaning, sanitation, minor maintenance, and general building support to ensure the facility is well-maintained and welcoming for employees and visitors.
Position requirements:
- Clean and sanitize church, parish center, offices, classrooms, restrooms, hallways, common areas, and other assigned spaces.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, & polish floors/surfaces.
- Empty trash/recycling & properly dispose of waste
- Clean/disinfect restrooms and replenish supplies
- Perform routine cleaning of windows, doors, furniture, fixtures, surfaces, and equipment.
- Monitor buildings /grounds for safety, cleanliness, and maintenance issues.
- Report damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or needed repairs to the appropriate supervisor.
- Set up / removal of tables and chairs for meetings, events, or activities.
- Assist with snow removal & salting of sidewalks
- Lift, move and store boxes & supplies
- Perform light cleaning & maintenance tasks as assigned.
**All employees of St Veronica must meet the mandated requirements of the Diocesan Safe Environment Office. This includes receiving a satisfactory fingerprinting/background check and the completion of the online or in person Virtus training.
